For the 2022 Presentation Cupra did a massive event in a custom venue on the middle of Terramar’s Running Circuit. When it got to talk about their future projects the ask the attendees (a Room with almost 200 people) to put on VR Headsets and embark on an experience that took them to the interior of their new concept car: The Urban Rebel.
I was tasked by Blit.Studio to create the Style and Environments of a futuristic Barcelona a Raval district. With the help of an amazing architecture studio Coda that provided close-future parametric buildings and the talent of modeler Asier Landa that modeled many of the iconic Barcelona’s Raval District Buildings I created, animated, shaded and light a big scene to serve as the background for the car to get to.
At the end the response was so good that the client end up asking for a new version to showcase on it’s new base in Sydney, we teleported to the famous Opera house plaza. For this version we got to show the car exterior along with the other two cars for their electric future: the Terramar and the Tavascan.

An edit to showcase the final experience in a 16-9 video with some extra shots from outside the car to show a more cinematic Raval 2025
The brief wasn’t son clear on the style and time of day, so I tried many types of things: stylized, realistic, dusk, mid day, sunset. At the end they picked a realistic, beginning of sunset time… for now.
Also we were thinking of the posible effects that the car will make to evoque the coming of the future to the city (this was later toned down).
A couple of days before the final del delivery the client had a change of hart and decided that the hole city should be at night. So I pull an all-nighter to relight the scene to night just after the sunset. I have to say I like the result even better
The scene was divided in 3 parts: the Rambla of Raval. The Narrow Streets, The Plaza of MACBA museum, each one suited a purpose.
The first one was to represent the arrival of the new concept car to Barcelona, and for that we esparce many landmarks on the same place.
The Narrow Streets was an acceleration curve, it was a thrill moment (that was carefully animated to not produce movement sickness)
And the MACBA Plaza was the final key visual, that they were also crafting to present on the graphics campaign
After the event of the unveiling went very well the client wanted to use the VR experience in a new event celebrating their arrival to Australia. This was also a great opportunity to showcase the exterior of the cars (as this time the actual cars wouldn’t be present). I design a Sydney plaza near the marina in honor to the real place and animated, shaded, and lighted the cars.
